ESD Flooring Systems for Data Centers, Electronics & Industrial Facilities

ESD Floor Coatings for Data Centers, Labs & Critical Facilities

  • Duraguard Solutions installs ESD (electrostatic dissipative) flooring systems for data centers, electronics manufacturing, and industrial facilities where static control is critical to protect equipment and ensure safety.”Our ESD conductive floor coating systems are also known as static dissipative flooring — engineered to safely channel electrostatic discharge away from sensitive equipment.”
  • “Static dissipative flooring is critical in environments where electrostatic discharge can damage electronics, ignite flammable materials, or disrupt sensitive manufacturing processes.”
  • “Duraguard’s Static Guard system meets the requirements for static dissipative flooring in data centers, clean rooms, electronics manufacturing, and pharmaceutical facilities across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.”

In facilities where static electricity can damage sensitive equipment, disrupt operations, or create safety hazards, standard epoxy floor coatings are not enough. Duraguard Protective Coating Solutions installs professional ESD floor coatings — electrostatic dissipative and conductive systems engineered specifically for environments where static control is critical.

We serve data centers, electronics manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, laboratories, surgical suites, pharmaceutical plants, and other static-sensitive environments throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. Our ESD floor coatings meet industry standards and are installed by trained applicators who understand the technical requirements of static control flooring.

What Are ESD Floor Coatings?

ESD stands for Electrostatic Discharge. ESD floor coatings are specially formulated epoxy or urethane systems that contain conductive or dissipative materials — typically carbon fibers, graphite, or metallic elements — that provide a controlled path for static electricity to safely flow to ground rather than building up and discharging suddenly.

There are two primary types of ESD floor coatings, each designed for different levels of static control:

  • Static Dissipative (ESD): Provides a controlled, slow discharge path for static electricity. Electrical resistance typically falls between 1 x 10^6 and 1 x 10^9 ohms. Ideal for electronics assembly, data centers, and laboratory environments where equipment protection is the primary concern.
  • Conductive (Anti-Static): Provides a faster, more direct discharge path with electrical resistance below 1 x 10^6 ohms. Used in environments where rapid dissipation of static charge is required, such as explosive or flammable material storage areas, ammunition facilities, and certain pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.

Industries That Require ESD Floor Coatings

Duraguard installs ESD floor coatings for a wide range of industries throughout Wisconsin and Illinois where static control is a regulatory, safety, or operational requirement:

  • Conductive primer

  • Grounding system

  • Conductive epoxy layer

  • Urethane topcoat

  • Data centers and server rooms
  • Electronics manufacturing and assembly facilities
  • Semiconductor fabrication and testing labs
  • Pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing plants
  • Hospital surgical suites and operating rooms
  • Cleanrooms and controlled environments
  • Military and defense electronics facilities
  • Ammunition and explosive storage areas
  • Aerospace and avionics manufacturing
  • Research laboratories and university facilities

Our ESD Floor Coating Systems

We install several ESD floor coating systems depending on your facility’s specific resistance requirements, traffic levels, chemical exposure, and aesthetic needs.

Static Guard ESD Epoxy System

Our Static Guard ESD epoxy system is a two-component, 100% solids epoxy formulation with a conductive primer and dissipative topcoat. It provides consistent, verifiable electrical resistance throughout the life of the floor and is available in a range of colors. The Static Guard system meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 and NFPA 99 requirements and is suitable for most data center, electronics manufacturing, and laboratory applications.

Conductive Epoxy System

For applications requiring lower electrical resistance and faster static dissipation, our conductive epoxy system incorporates a higher concentration of conductive elements to achieve resistance values below 1 x 10^6 ohms. This system is used in explosive and flammable material storage areas, ammunition facilities, and other environments where rapid discharge is required by code or safety protocol.

ESD Urethane Topcoat Systems

For facilities that need ESD protection combined with superior chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, or cleanroom-compatible surfaces, we offer ESD urethane topcoat systems. These systems maintain static dissipative properties while providing the durability and cleanability required in pharmaceutical, biotech, and cleanroom environments.

Grounding & Verification

An ESD floor coating is only effective when it is properly grounded. Duraguard installs copper grounding strips beneath the coating that connect to the building’s electrical ground system, completing the static discharge path. After installation, we perform electrical resistance testing using calibrated equipment to verify that the floor meets your specified resistance requirements and industry standards.

We provide written test results for every ESD floor coating installation, giving your facility documentation for compliance, insurance, and quality assurance purposes.

Static Dissipative Flooring

Static Dissipative Flooring Systems are appropriate for computer rooms and suites, laboratories, surgical suites where a spark from static electricity can ignite the volatile gases; electronics assembly facilities, clean rooms, etc. any application that requires a static-free environment.

Electroguard Flooring Group

Electroprime WB — Specifically designed for use under Electroguard SD and Electroguard CD systems, this product offers excellent adhesion capabilities and has a fast cure time allowing for faster re-coating.

Electroguard CD — A unique seamless conductive flooring system that provides excellent electrical conductivity and non-sparking capabilities along with outstanding chemical and abrasion resistance.

Electroguard SD — A specially formulated seamless, static dissipating flooring system that provides excellent static control capabilities along with outstanding chemical and abrasion resistance for any environment where electrostatic discharge can not be tolerated.

Special Considerations

The Electroguard floor system is available in two specific ohms resistance ranges. Electrical Static Static Dissipative Flooring Systems in an ohms range of 106 to 109 ohms — Electroguard SD; or in conductive ranges of 25,000 to 106 ohms — Electroguard CD. Either version of Electroguard Static Dissipative Flooring Systems must be ordered from Duraguard to meet one of these specific resistance requirements for the specified project.

It is necessary to use the appropriate primer with the selected and corresponding Electroguard floor system (i.e., ESD over ESD and conductive over conductive) to achieve desired ohms (electrical resistance readings.)

Without exception, deadening or insulating the substrate will be required prior to applying the Electroguard floor system, by using Durapoxy AP 100.

Duraguard Solutions intense familiarity and knowledge of the product combined with a hands-on approach to working through the details of the installation with the end user ranks Duraguards’ SDT team at the top of the industry.
